ABOUT ABOUT
Experience California extra virgin olive oils at Cedar House Sport Hotel.
Explore the diversity and exquisite flavor of artisan olive oils - buttery, delicate, silky as well as suave, peppery and sweet. Discover your favorites and discuss health benefits and uses with others. Taste mild, medium and robust oils produced by Corning, California Olive Ranch, Hillstone and Lucero Olive Oil. Learn tasting techniques, vocabulary and factors that influence taste and texture from experts including a UC Davis Olive Center sensory panel taster, Sue Langstaff, and Kathy Scopin.
Sue began her career as a sensory scientist working with brewers. Today she sits on the UC Davis Olive Center tasting panel and specializes in sensory evaluation services (appliedsensory.com). Her expertise guides olive oil producers by focusing on the sensory attributes of their products. Sue holds a bachelors degree in Genetics from U.C. Berkeley and masters in Food Science from Davis. Kathy trained as an apprentice on the tasting panel and plans Italian excursions highlighting culinary, historic and cultural gems of Italy (firsttriptoitaly.com/about.php).
