Tea time @ Cedar House Sport Hotel

Treat yourself - or surprise your sweetheart - to an early evening of tea at Cedar House Sport Hotel on Thursday, Feb. 9. Tahoe Teas will host an engaging tasting of their proprietary certified organic teas and herbal blends.
"We believe in and support sustainable farming, local business and use all natural organic ingredients whenever possible," explains founder Alenka Vrecek. Hear how Alenka's childhood in Slovenia influences her work today while enjoying freshly baked scones from Stella. Tasting will be followed by the first official Truckee-Tahoe showing of Les Blank and Gina Leibrecht's "All in this Tea." Gina will be on site to introduce the film and answer questions.
"AIl in this Tea" follows American tea importer David Lee Hoffman to remote regions of China in search of the finest handmade teas. Not since Robert Fortune clandestinely made his way through China in 1843 (to steal plants and seeds for the British Empire!) has a westerner attempted to gain access to the world where farmers have been making tea for generations. Hoffman introduces the west to one of China’s finest cultural gems—the artistry and exquisite taste of fine, handmade tea (70 minutes). The Museum of Modern Art (NY) held a major retrospective of Blank's work last summer. In 1990 he received the American Film Institute’s Maya Deren Award for outstanding lifetime achievement as an independent filmmaker and two of his films were inducted into the National Film Registry.
